On the Twelfth Day of Christmas...

On the Twelfth Day of Christmas my good friends gave to me...
A multitude of ways to remember the Savior!

Of course, there is really only one Reason for the Season, so here are some ideas for remembering the Savior.

Visit the Church's website dedicated to the Savior.  Read the Prophet's testimonies of him.  Write your own.

(Before I forget, since it's Christmas Eve, here's the link for the kids to the Santa Tracker in case you don't already have it:)

This month in Sharing Time the children were asked to come up with gifts they could give to the Savior for His birthday.  Come up with your own ideas and then follow through.  Here are some to get you started:

Listen to Christmas carols and other music that focus solely on the birth of the Savior.  Leave out the popular carols for a bit.  Let yourself feel the Spirit that comes with them.

Spend time with your family and really be there.  Give them 100% of your time, attention, love and energy.  Don't be somewhere else in your mind.

Share the gospel with someone else.

Invite someone to join in the fun who might not have any family around.

Do some family history work and plan to take the names to the temple.  This is in direct correlation with the Visiting Teaching message this month.

Write a note of appreciation to someone who has made a difference in your life.  Think outside the box and possibly beyond your immediate family.  Challenge yourself.

Do a random act of service for everyone in your household.  Make it really good and really anonymous.

Sit by a family with children in church this week.  Don't think how loud their kids are, think how you can help them out.  Remember, Christmas was the day before and they are TIRED and CRANKY.

Write your testimony in your journal.

Begin your personal history for your posterity.  Make yourself real.  Don't leave out the best parts - the embarassments, surprises, frustrations, and disappointments.  This is what they'll learn from.

Share your talents.

The list could go on and on. Be creative and remember Pres. Monson's words: "He who gives money gives much, he who gives of his time gives more; but he who gives himself gives all."

Merry Christmas!  Enjoy it!
