On the Eleventh Day of Christmas....

On the Eleventh Day of Christmas my good friends gave to me...
A reminder of Joseph Smith's birthday!

Today is the Prophet Joseph Smith's birthday.  I think it's nice that we can remember him at this season as well.  Here are a couple of links.  The first is to the Church Joseph Smith website.  Here you can find just about anything you could possibly want to find about the Prophet and his life and teachings.

The second link is to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir website.  Scroll down to Praise to the Man.  It is a simple but powerful video about the Prophet.

The artwork on my blog today is all Liz Lemon Swindle.  She has been a longtime favorite for Dan and I.  Her paintings of Joseph Smith's life are amazing.  We have a book of these pictures and love to look at it.  For more of her work, go check out http://www.reparteegallery.com/m-159-Liz-Lemon-Swindle.aspx

For the Kids

Today for the kids, I will direct their attention to the Friend website.  Loads of games, coloring pages, activities and videos.  I particularly enjoy the videos they have set to primary songs.  It is the homepage to each of my kids accounts on our computer, and I find they quite often don't go anywhere else once they log in.

For the older kids, have you checked out the youth page from the church?  If not, take a gander!

You can find the Mormon messages just for youth and invite the spirit in for Christmas!

Have a great day.  The countdown is on.  Only one more day of Christmas!  And take a moment to think of Joseph Smith today.  Read the account of the First Vision in the Joseph Smith History.  In the whirlwind of Christmas prep, pause and ponder how we wouldn't have as much to celebrate if Joseph wasn't willing to follow in faith.
