Writer's Workshop Wednesday

This week I have decided to post a number of prompts in recognition of the fact that we all are inspired by different things.  Some of us write fiction, others prefer non.  So here are a few ideas to mull over.  The last few are in honor of the kids.  In Clayton's class they have free writing every day, and I am always amazed by the things they can write.  So those of you with kids, if they are interested I would love to read their ideas on these Halloween themes!

1. Halloween is on Sunday this year.  In certain small towns it has been decided to observe the holiday on Saturday instead.  Take a position for or against this move and defend it.

2. What is your favorite Halloween candy?  Why?

3. Write about your best Halloween ever.

4. I was stuck at home all by myself.  It was Halloween night and mom said I was too old to go out trick or treating....

5. My brother and I were walking through the woods on Halloween when we saw what appeared to be a short cut.  "Let's go that way," my brother said...

6. It was the night before Halloween...

7. One dark and foggy Halloween night...

6.   Look at the photo.  Write whatever comes into your mind.

7. Write a spooky story that involves these spooky trees.

8. Write about what happens to the dragon tree on Halloween.

Good luck!  Remember, you can just write for yourself, but if you want to share it feel free.  If you can fit it all in a comment, do that.  If it is longer, please send it to me at cooperj67@yahoo.com and I will add it directly to the blog.  Have fun!

p.s. sorry about the numbering.  I can't change the photo ones, and I have to go to preschool!  Bye.

  1. My favorite Halloween candy is mini Reese Peanut Butter Cups. They are not really Halloween candy, but I love them. They are the perfect size, you don't feel disgusting after eating just one, or even a couple. I also really like Tootsie Rolls. I never eat these except for at Halloween and they always make me think of when I was a little kid.
